But as it is only 25 rows long, it may be finished soon.

Christmas chores

Some eight years ago cross-stitching was my only hobby. Happy days!
Now with all weaving, spinning, sewing, and other beautiful crafts, I find less and less time to cross-stitch. But Christmas is coming and I should get busy. As per my long lasting tradition November and December are dedicated to producing a fresh pack of holiday decorations.
I need to pick one Snowmen ornament for November and One Victorian home for December.
Which one to choose?...

Spinning

Spinning Wensleydale yarn turned out to be less fun than expected. I know now I am too young as a weaver to cut corners and... taking your wool everywhere in hot weather may have some negative consequences.

And with my cotton spinning project brining so much pleasure, finding extra time for wool spinning can be rather difficult.   

Tired of loops

After two loopy cloths got bored and decided to try something different - hand manipulated 2x2 twill lines. 

On the warp I have did not work well.

Next week - back to loops.

A long way to towels

I bought this kit from CottonClouds.
I am supposed to spin all those cottons and weave towels out of them... one day.
I wonder how many years it will take for me to finally see a towel.

Loopy progress

My huck studies finally over and I can come back to my loopy cloth.
Not much progress but there is a colour change!

Huck in violet

My huck studies are finished.

2.7 m warp of Noho yarn produced three runners: first one in huck, second in huck lace, and third in huck boxes. The pattern was taken from the Handwoven Magazine (Nov/Dec 2009).

I miscalculated the length of the first runner and it turned out to be 2 inches less than it should have been. Good thing they are not for sale.

This time I decided to use up the warp as much as possible. Look at it. Last 5 picks I did by hand and hook - my shuttle could not get in. As a result the last 4th 'sample' runner came out the longest.
And the prettiest as I tried to decorate it with stitching.
