Socks

Another 2019 project is finished. Hubby socks.
This was mainly a car project, that’s why it took so long.

They look kind of wabi-sabi but fit really well.

A little bit of knitting

Started a new knitting project this year. This one will definitely have me occupied for a very long time.
Design: Rose Trellis Shawl by Catherine Devine
Yarn: Fiesta. Gracie's Lace (70/15/15 Merino/Silk/Cashmere, 965yd in 100g) in  Safari colour
Needles: 2.5 mm (US#1)

Vanilla Latte socks

Finally finished socks for my husband. It took me half a year, maybe more. The most important I got in time for autumn.  Who needs wool socks in summer, right?
The pattern is free from Ravelry.
It was nice and well-written but I won't knit them again. I guess I am all for symmetry.

Monkey socks

My very unfortunate Monkey socks are finally finished. Why unfortunate?
First I broke my bamboo needle, second I found out that the sock was too tight and I had to "unknit" it. Took a bigger size bamboo needles. On the second sock one of them disappeared somewhere in the belly of our car, as my husband said, in order to retrieve it, we need to disassemble part of the front console, meaning - no way.
At least I managed to finish the socks.

Although the winter is over, I mended my very warm and cozy high socks from KnitPicks' pallete yarn. Love them. The mending does not look perfect but I hope it will last longer as I added two linen threads to wool.

Monkey trouble

I thought I deserve a pair of socks at least once a year. Last time I knitted one was January 2015.
But thoses Monkey socks are nothing but trouble.
1. I broke one of my 2.25 bamboo needles.
2. After I finished cuff, I fitted the sock - too tight. Back to the beginning.
3. Changed to 2.75 needles.
4. Half way throught the cuff I found extra stitches on one needle. Going five rows down.

Finally I caught up with the cuff. What else is waiting for me, I wonder...

Slippers

I am not a swatch person, too lazy. That's why many of my knitting projects are borderline disasters.

I started those slippers three times and still managed to screw up.... Not entirely though.

Had a small ball of Berroco Suede (nylon). The plan was to make slippers to wear over wooly socks for protection. Good thing I can also crochet. This saved the situation. 

In the end they turned out kind of cute. 

Autumn

How do I know that the  winter is really coming (or at least autumn)? The moment I feel comfortable enough to dig out my wooly crafty projects.

The pink shawl is slowly moving along. More than a half is woven.

Half of the Mondrian latch hook rug is waiting for its second half since April.

A lot needs to be done with the Vermont Winter hooked rug. It came to a halt after unexpectedly I ran out of black wool. I guess this means that I did something wrong, probably, I hooked a bit too tight. Another worry is that I may run out of other colours too.

And the last wooly thing. My nice and warm KnitPicks Palette socks need mending. I may try to sqeeze another year out of them. 

Regina Marie II

Done with the second shawlette. The size is good. It's nice and soft.

I bet my blocking technic is not right but it almost worked. 

Autumn runner waste

A weaving project is considered truly finished only with a loom waste dishcloth knitted.
This time I had two loom wastes - long from back beam and short from front beam.
I've knitted two dishcloths from the short threads only, which are not more than 6 inches each.
Long ones are saved for later...

Lucky me

Look what I've got. Knitting is contagious.

Regina Marie shawl II

Last Sunday I finished my Regina Marie shawlette. Nothing to show. I should have used either different yarn or needles. In any case the shawl is unwearable because of its size. It is cute, soft and... tiny.

I haven't frogged it yet, just put aside with the rest of sock yarn. 

Yesterday i cast on a new one from a real lace yarn - KnitPicks Shimmer in Buttercream colour. Hopefully, I will have my shawl after all... in summer. 

Trouble with Regina

The pattern for the Regina Marie shawl asked for 300 yards of lace-weight yarn. There are 425m in 100g of my Tofutsies. I thought one ball will be enough. I guess I was wrong. Half of the border took 40g of yarn - not enough left to finish the shawl. Dilemma: use a different colour for short rows or frog everything and start over.
I found one ball which seems to be ok with the first one but...

Regina Marie shawl

Listening to all those knitting podcasts left me itching for more knitting. Regina Marie shawlette seems to be a good choice. This is my first shawl of this type. It asks for lace yarn, I am using Tofutsies, not exactly lace but I hope it will work.

Viticetum coat

One year and a half and I am done with my coat.

I was supposed to be happy, but... It was too long, now I need to get rid of 5-10 kg to be able to clasp it on my belly. 

Mittens

Winter is over and I've finished my mittens.
I frogged them three times, changed pattern twice and finally ended up with stockinette stitch. Nothing fancy.
They are knitted from singles I spun a couple of years ago on a drop spindle. They are thick and thin, not on purpose though, just because I was knew to spinning.

Something long...

Once again I've chosen a big cross-stitch project. One thing for sure, it will take a lot of time to finish.

At the same time my coat is slooowly coming to a nick line. I am dreading the steeks.

 

Touch of spring dish cloth

My Touch of Spring towel kit is officially finished with a couple of dish cloths knitted using up the loom waste.

Daily quotas

I do not like to set deadlines, they add more pressure. 

But sometimes they can be very useful:

1. Two sleeves on my Viticetum Coat are done (started last October).

2. Crochet top from cotton/lines yarn is finished.

3. Loopy cloth is moving on.

4. Pagoda View is in the process.

5. New runner project is almost on the loom.

Wooly socks

I decided it's time for me to have a pair of warm socks (or the winter may suddenly end and I won't be able to wear anything cozy and new! this year).
A ball of Nashu Handknits' wool in bright colour came in handy.

Bonus dish cloth

My "hairy" dish cloth knitted from baker's twine towelettes'  cotton/linen warp loom waste.
Nothing will be wasted!
